The ring file is a special precision file that is used by goldsmiths for working on the inside of ring bands due to its HIGH SLIM semicircular shape of the file cross section.
This is not possible with other normal WIDER half-round files, which have a flatter cross-section.
There is a great risk that the edge of the file will damage the ring rail.
