Legor PTLUX-RTU Platinum/Ruthenium Plating Bath 1 Litre

Ready-to-use extra-white platinum plating bath containing 2 g of platinum and 1 g of ruthenium per litre. Suitable both as a base coating before rhodium plating and as a final finish, thanks to the exceptional whiteness of the deposited layer.

Formulated with a composition of 90% platinum and 10% ruthenium, it features an optimised formulation compared with traditional pure platinum plating baths. The b colour coordinate, responsible for platinum's characteristic slightly yellowish tone, has been reduced.

This solution is ideal for those seeking a high-quality white finish while also considering the cost of precious metals.

It stands out for its ease of application and high performance. It can be deposited directly onto silver, gold or palladium. For copper items, appropriate preliminary treatment and intermediate barrier layers are required to prevent contamination.

Specifications

• Operating voltage: 1.5–3.0 V (optimum: 1.8 V).

• Operating temperature: 30–50 °C (optimum: 35 °C).

• Immersion time: 45–300 seconds (optimum: 90 seconds).

• Anode type: platinum-coated titanium.

Operating Procedure

Important: Do not touch the pieces directly with your hands during the process.

1. Clean the pieces using an ultrasonic cleaner.

2. Rinse thoroughly under running water.

3. Connect the equipment's cathode clamp to the electrolytic copper conducting wire.

4. Apply the appropriate voltage.

5. Carry out electrolytic degreasing for 30–45 seconds.

6. Rinse under running water.

7. Rinse with distilled water.

8. Rinse using Legor NEUT-SA neutraliser (ref. BAN076) at a concentration of 50 g per litre.

9. Rinse with distilled water.

10. Immerse the piece in the PTLUX-RTU platinum plating bath for 90 seconds.

11. Immediately rinse with distilled water.

12. Dry using standard methods.

Important note: Separate containers must be used for each stage to prevent cross-contamination caused by solution carryover.
